In July 2025, heavy rains and floods left many parts of Luzon underwater, with Pampanga and Laguna among the hardest hit. Evacuation centers filled up quickly, and families faced long nights without the warmth and comfort of their homes. For the team at 8List.ph and ID8, a familiar question arose: how could we best serve those in need? While Project Kumot, our previous initiative, successfully provided blankets for comfort, this time we envisioned something more profound. What if we could offer not just warmth, but a genuine, filling embrace? This question sparked the creation of Project Yakap.

More than just a relief effort, Project Yakap was a heartfelt call to embrace those affected by disaster. It was a tangible hug, carefully brought together by the generosity of our readers, the unwavering support of donors, and the tireless hands of volunteers.

Every contribution, whether big or small, became part of this collective hug. Readers sent funds for ready-to-eat meals, and others donated blankets, providing physical warmth. Many shared our call to action, amplifying its reach, while volunteers devoted time to repack the donations with care and compassion. Lalamove stepped in to bridge the distance, moving goods from collection points directly to Angat Buhay’s headquarters.
Our partnership with Angat Buhay was key to making sure these “hugs” reached those who needed them most. Their strong local presence and volunteer network enabled targeted support for Pampanga and Laguna’s hardest-hit communities. As Angat Buhay shared:

RPC Santa Rosa

In Pampanga, relief operations continued with the same dedication:

Thanks to the combined efforts of donors, volunteers, and partners, Project Yakap was able to bring tangible support to families facing challenging times. Each packed box and delivered meal represents not just relief, but a community’s collective embrace. A reminder that in the face of hardship, no one stands alone.

To everyone who gave, shared, delivered, and repacked, you are the heart of Project Yakap. Your kindness made this big, warm hug real. Thank you for showing the power of coming together.
